Mission:
To provide a safe, supportive, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children aged 3-5 years can explore, develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically, and cultivate a positive self-image and love of learning through playful experiences. We foster spiritual growth, guided by Christian values and principles, empowering young minds to flourish.

To be a leading Christian pre-school, providing a nurturing environment where children grow spiritually, academically, and socially, guided by biblical principles and values, and empowering them to become compassionate, responsible, and faith-filled individuals.

Admission policy

To ensure a smooth enrolment process, Hillside Education Academy requires the following:

  • Age: 3-5 years
  • Registration: Completed form, birth certificate, proof of residence, and parent/guardian ID (driver’s license or passport).
  • Registration fee: R500 (non-refundable).
  • Proof of payment: Required for confirmation of admission.
Operating schedule
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 12:30 pm.
  • Term dates: Follows CAPS curriculum term schedule (Term 1, Term 2, Term 3, Term 4).
  • Closures:
    • Between terms
    • Public holidays and weekends
    • December seasonal break (dates confirmed annually)
Attendance and punctuality
  • Regular attendance is essential.
  • Notify the school for absences exceeding 3 days.
  • Arrival and collection times: 7:45 am – 12:30 pm.
Arrangements regarding collecting and transportation of children
  • Parents/Guardians must notify the school about the person responsible for collecting their child.
  • Notify the teacher personally if someone else will collect the child.
  • Ensure timely drop-off and collection of children.
Admission of special needs children
  • Admission depends on the severity of the disability/chronic illness and staff availability.
  • Medical practitioner approval is required for acceptance.
Ill children
  • Routine health checks are conducted upon arrival.
  • Children showing symptoms of illness or contagious disease should stay at home until fully recovered.
A child is injured or has fallen ill while in the care of the Education Academy.
  • Minor injuries are treated by staff, and parents are informed at collection.
  • For serious injuries, parents will be contacted to seek medical assistance.
  • In case of emergencies, staff will call an ambulance.
Administering medicine
  • Long-term medications (e.g., asthma, vitamins) are allowed with written parental consent.
Health and safety

Hillside Education Academy prioritises health, safety, and well-being through:

  • A secure environment
  • Accident prevention measures
  • Compliance with regulations
  • First aid-trained staff
  • Emergency contact information for each child
Discipline and behaviour
  • Positive reinforcement and redirection
  • Verbal warnings
  • Time-outs (1-2 minutes)
  • Parent-teacher meetings for serious concerns
  • Suspension (1-3 days) or expulsion (in extreme cases)
Communication
  • Regular updates through notebooks and parent-teacher meetings
  • Open-door policy for concerns
Confidentiality
  • Staff are trained on confidentiality
  • Information is shared only with authorized personnel
Fees and payment
  • Registration fee: R500 (non-refundable)
  • Annual fee: R18 500 (payable over 11 months @ R1 850 per month)
  • Sibling discount: 5%
  • Annual fee Payment discount: One-month discount for payments made in full by January 31
Parental involvement
  • Parents are encouraged to participate in school events and volunteer opportunities
  • Participation in fundraising efforts is expected (financially or through time)
Complaints and grievances
  • Submit complaints in writing to the Principal/Teacher or Governing Body if unresolved
  • Timeline for resolutions:
  • Acknowledgement: 24 hours
  • Investigation: 3-5 working days
  • Resolution meeting: 5-7 working days
  • Written outcome: 7-10 working days (if needed)
  • Principles: Respect, fairness, confidentiality, timeliness, transparency
Withdrawal/termination policy.
  • One term’s written notice is required
  • Fees remain payable until the notice period ends
  • Refunds are not permitted upon withdrawal
